When Montblanc decided more than ten years ago that finishing touches were over and it was time to kick the door to the high end luxury replica watches segment, the steel boot that broke that particular door was the Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph. Montblanc did just that on the spear’s tip, trying to impress the others. Spectacularly because it was a brand new, completely in-house automatic chronograph with a unique dial design that was meant to make it clear on the front of the watch that it was a special effort – not a revised 7750 or other half-solution.
The latest model, now known as the Montblanc Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph, has been added to the Star Legacy collection – the latest 2019 news featured in our previous article.
Nicolas Rieussec was honored for a long time as the inventor of the chronograph (stopwatch), and so was the presentation of his Montblanc replica watch. The fact of the matter is that he has since taken this title from Rieussec to Louis Mooin – you can watch a video of his watch here. How legitimate this Louis Moinet is is left to everyone’s own pessimism / suspicion … But the significance of the thing is hardly the “who was the first good 200 years ago” (who knows what watches were made at that time that could be destroyed or made by them) exact date cannot be determined in the absence of documentation) … Before we lose any further on this subject, we point out that the point is that Montblanc Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph commemorates one of the earliest and undoubtedly brilliant chronographs.

The chronograph is a “chronograph,” which is because many of the earliest chronograph watches (such as several Breguet pocket watches, by Nicolas Rieussec, for example) literally marked the length of the stopwatch on the dial.
Created by Rieussec in 1821 for the purpose of measuring the time of a horse race, it worked as he remembers at Montblanc: there were two rotating discs, one with a wedge-shaped bridge. This wedge, unlike conventional clock hands, did not move on its axis – instead, the discs rolex replica rotated underneath. When the running chronograph was stopped, as the stop button was pressed, the wedge moved downward and pressed the ends of the wedge on the disks, marking the point on the disc scale where the timing was completed.
